Health Researcher & Joint Pain Advocate for Adults Over 50
I know what it feels like to wake up every morning and dread getting out of bed — not because you’re tired, but because your knees, hips, or hands have already started aching before your feet hit the floor. I lived that reality for years. And I refused to accept that this was simply “getting older.”

My Story
It started at 53. I’d always been active — hiking on weekends, gardening, keeping up with my grandchildren. Then gradually, without any dramatic injury or clear cause, my joints started changing. My knees ached going up stairs. My hips stiffened after sitting in the car. My hands felt swollen and resistant every morning.
My doctor called it “age-related joint wear” and handed me a prescription for anti-inflammatory medication. I filled it. I took it. And yes, some days it helped — until I started noticing how rough it was on my stomach, and reading about the risks of long-term NSAID use for people my age.
I knew there had to be another way.
“I became obsessed with understanding why joints deteriorate after 50 — and more importantly, what science actually says we can do about it naturally.”
Over the next several years, I read hundreds of peer-reviewed studies, consulted with functional medicine practitioners, tested supplements on myself, and built a network of fellow 50+ adults sharing their experiences. I started a small email newsletter to share what I was learning — and the response was overwhelming. People were hungry for honest, research-backed information that didn’t just push pills or dismiss natural alternatives.
That newsletter became PainFreeAfter50.com.
What This Blog Is About
PainFreeAfter50 exists to fill a gap I experienced myself: reliable, readable information about joint pain, mobility, and healthy aging — written for real people over 50, not for medical journals.
Every article I publish is grounded in:
🔎
Actual research
I reference clinical studies and peer-reviewed literature — not marketing claims or bro-science forums.
🧠
Real-world honesty
I share what the evidence says — including when results are mixed or inconclusive. No hype.
💕
Personal experience
I’ve tried many of the approaches I write about. I share what worked for me and what didn’t.
🌟
Reader-first focus
My goal is always your wellbeing — not page views, not commissions, not affiliate sales at any cost.
Why You Can Trust This Site
I won’t pretend I have a medical degree — I don’t, and I’ll never claim otherwise. What I have is something different: years of deep, focused research into joint health for people over 50; personal experience navigating chronic pain and the confusing supplement industry; and a genuine commitment to only recommending things I truly believe in.
When this site features a product — whether a supplement, a piece of exercise equipment, or a book — I disclose when it’s an affiliate relationship and I explain my reasoning based on ingredients, manufacturing standards, and available evidence. I don’t review things I haven’t researched thoroughly, and I don’t let commissions drive my opinions.
I also work with a network of readers — people just like you — who share their experiences, flag products that didn’t deliver, and help me stay grounded in what’s actually happening in real people’s lives, not just in lab settings.
